Royal Navy Ship Badges/Crests
Every single ship or unit of Her Majesty’s Royal Navy Fleet has its own crest or heraldic design used to distinguish it from others.
These plaques or crests, more formally known as ship badges, are usually mounted onto a wooden backing shield and offered up as gifts when a ship visits a new port or hosts dignitaries. Ship’s badges come in a variety of shapes and sizes including diamond, pentagon, circular and traditional shields.
Wyedean previously held the contract to supply Ship’s Badges to the Royal Navy, and supplied hundreds of crests across a wide range of designs from the famous penguin on the HMS Scott badge, to the newest addition, the EIIR Royal Cypher of HMS Queen Elizabeth.
If you’re a retired sailor or naval officer, or just someone with an interest in a particular ship or unit, then Wyedean also supplies Ship’s Badges directly to the general public.
