A lanyard generally takes the form of a braided cord and is worn over the shoulder or under the arm, and fastened to either a pocket, shirt or jacket button. Like many items of uniform regalia, the military lanyard’s purpose is to identify a particular regiment or unit.
Historically, lanyards were used to carry key items such as a whistle, fuse mechanism or cotter pin.
Across Europe, the lanyard is also known as the fourragère.
Wyedean supplies many different types of lanyard to uniformed and armed forces. You can view our stock online at our web shop.
